A tough one

Okay here is a tough one! I recently downloaded freeware that was supposed
to work with my IE toolbar to remove spyware. What in fact happened was it
dorked everything up.

Here are the symptoms. IE opens, but the windows icon just turns. Nothing
else below the brower bar shows up at all. Just blank. Nothing at the
bottom of the page. Additionally, Outlook Express only opens, won't
connect. I get the last inbox group that I had. When I hit send/receive it
just stops. Also, my Yahoo Messenger won't connect. Neither will any
automatic updates, such as McAfee Virusscan.

What I have done so far. Scanned for viruses. Nothing. Downloaded and
scanned for spyware...deleted all found. Ran toolbar fixer to no avail.

Here is the weird part. I use windows XP and have separate accounts for
kids, wife, and I. Theirs all still work! No problems at all. Is there a
way to copy their IE settings and use them in my account? Or any other fix?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Please be detailed...I am no
computer expert!
Thanks in advance.

How about telling us the name of the freeware. You are making it very tough
without this information.

The freeware Spyware "device" was likely Spyware itself, find it on Google
looking for something for free? It's may very well be the root of your problem.

Run "Hijack This" from this link: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
