A tool to measure the number of times a user scrolls per 30 mins?

I'm looking for a way to measure the number of times a child scrolls when
reading text, during a 30 minute period, for some reserach in comprehension
of texts on the computer screen.

OK, to do this it's Windows you need to work on, not Word.

The area you are getting into is a technically complex area known as User
Interface Instrumentation. So I am cross-posting your message into the

When I say that this is a "technically complex area", don't let me scare you
off. This problem has been solved many times: many of the trojan viruses
used to steal passwords and bank account logins employ exactly this
technology.

However, if you are not used to programming Microsoft Windows applications,
I would enlist the help of a developer to put this together for you. Your
University's Computer Science department will have several students who can
put this together for you in less than a week. Alternatively, software
testing tools such as WinRunner and IBM's Rational Test Suite have this
functionality built-in (at a price that would terrify an oil Sheik...).
