Ok, Brand new Dell Dimension E510 and Verizion DSL.

Any time i restart my computer, I cannot connect to the internet. In order
to enable this connection, i must go into my control panel, network
connections. There are three types of connections here (all set up by Dell),
Broadband, Dial-up, and LAN or High Speed Internet. On reboot, LAN or High
Speed internet is automatically set up, however it cannot get a network
adress. When i try to repair this connection, it says it cannot and that i
need to A. Renew my IP adress or B. Register DNS. When I do either of these
options via the ipconfig tool (type 'ipconfig /renew' or 'ipconfig
/registerdns' via the command prompt), the output is:

An error occured when renewing interface Local Area Connection : The RPC
server is unavailable. (this feedback occurs after typing /renew)
OR
Registration of DNS records failed : The RPC server is unavailable. (this
feedback occurs after typing /registerdns)

In order to temporarily get my internet working, i can enable the broadband
connection. This will work, but i have to do this every time i restart my
computer.

I gave Verizion a call and apparently it is the fault of dell. so, i called
dell, and they want a hundred bucks to fix it, despite the fact its a brand
new computer. so, you guys usually get the answer quickly, and definately
cheaper.

Thanks,
Collin

Collin,

The RPC Service is one of the key services in Windows. Is the RPC Server
Started and Automatic?
