a simple avi file is distorted in wmm.how can I amend this?

I am making a simple video. I am putting all the pictures together and
one short 3.30 sec avi.file.
In the preview, the avi file looks distorted. But in a Powerpoint or
in WMP its beautiful.

Do I need to adjust the proportions of the avi file so that it doesn't
look distorted and how do I do this?

I suspect you need to convert the avi file to wmv.
There si no such thng as a simple avi file, as there are over 800 of them.
USe avicodec from this page to find out which yours is, if you don't know,
then use one of the convertors to change it.
