a second hard disk

i have two hd's , but only one is recognised at a time.
when i swap from master to slave the master is recognised,
and boots o.k. but the slave is not available nor appears
in device manager, as though it did not exist!
help, please,

- Is the BIOS set up correctly?
- Can you see the two disks during the early boot phase?
 
Hi,

After installing the second harddisk did two harddisks get
detected in the bios?
Check if this works.

Connect the first harddisk to primary controller on the
mother board and the second one to the secondary
controller.

If you are using windows 2000 in disk management some
times the drives letters won't be assigned to the harddisk.
Assign a new drive letter then this should work
