A rootkit called fxstaller.exe....

I am posting this on behalf of my friend who I am trying to fix her PC last
night thru the remote assistance to help her with the nasty virus and I was
able to remove the main one after that virus messes up the PC - keeps sending
self link thru MSN. BUT.... Her winows is fake so it will be making any
difficult I guess.

I tried to install the SpyBot:Search and destory, it was unable to
installing due to an error was occurred with the connection. She had keep
trying but keeps saying error - that one i cant fix, we guess that Spybot
cant be installed because of the windows is fake? I wasnt sure about this one.

But once it has been restarted last night and I went back in her pc, and saw
the Avast pop up to says found this virus fxstaller.exe, I tried to locate it
but it is not in system which is very weird. Yes I have ran Avast scan,
AVG8.0 scan and SuperAnti-Spyware scan, but antivirus havent found anything.
And SAS found other threats, but do not find this virus.

I am in seaching for a solution to remove a rootkit. But I came across to a
website says it is recently new, am I correct?

I would be grateful for your help to this problem.

try malwarebytes
you can get it at malwarebytes.org
try to install it the correct way
if it will not install change the exe name to john.exe then see if it will
install
if this still doesn't work try going to http://forums.superantispyware.com/
there are very knowledgeable people there that can help you

I will have my friend to download that Malwarebytes hope it will work.

Thanks for your advice. Will let you know what result it will be later.
