Yes i have Kazaa on my PC...is it possible to remove
spyware from that program or should i just get rid of
Kazaa?

How do i go about disabling the Messenger service? I'll
try the other solutions first before attempting this but
i'd like to know how...

Thanks again

If I remember, right, you'd have to uninstall about four programs in total
(with Kazaa) to "uninstall" all of it, and they still leave junk all over
the place. (Cydoor is one of the programs.) And if you get rid of the
spyware, Kazaa won't run.

If you *have* to disable Messenger (a firewall's better, but the info's here
for completeness,) go to start-run. Type in services.msc. Scroll down to
"Messenger." Right click, pick "Stop." Right click again, go to "Properites"
and set to "Disabled."

If you have to ask if your copy of XP is 32 or 64 bit, it's 32.

Hi EGM. I normally use IE6, but I tested Netscape 5 (N5) two days ago and my
browsing with N5 became intruded repeatedly by various advertisers using
those plain gray popups (Exploiting the Messenger service?). I had never
seen them before when using IE6.

Are you hinting that N5 is more vulnerable to Messenger Service exploits
than IE6?

What happens if I just disable the Messenger Service? It's a tandalone
laptop computer. That service is only intended for adminitrators who want to
broadcast messages to users on a LAN, correct? Will the disablement mean
that I also won't receive important error messages from WinXPH when they
occur?

Netscape 5? Thought they jumped from 4.7 or so to 6. I never see popups
with Mozilla (what Netscape 7 is based on.)

You can disable the Messenger service - a firewall's just a better all-round
answer.

Disabling messenger service will not affect receiving error messages.

Oops. Netscape 7, not 5.
