A rather large .wav file

I was mucking around with using dance ejay4 to see if I could use it to
convert mp3's to wavs.
I used the wave mixer and editor to trim the 3mb file and then i exported it
as a wave to a folder. The file size of the wav is 35mb!
Can anyone tell me where I've gone wrong.

TIA

WAV files are normally very large because it takes about 10 megabytes per
minute of stereo audio to create one. It will contain all the original audio
data. An MP3 file is highly compressed, using something called "lossy"
compression, where parts of the original audio data that is determined by
the software that you most likely would not hear, is discarded. That's why
MP3s are less than 1 tenth the size of an original WAV file. Now, when you
convert an MP3 back to a WAV, it uncompresses the data in the MP3, making it
very large again. However, you don't get back all the original WAV data
since it was permanently discarded when the WAV was originally compressed.
The only reason to convert an MP3 back to WAV is if you are using software
that accepts only WAV files for it's intended purpose. I know this was a
mouthful, but hopefully you will gain some understanding of what is involved
with MP3 files.
