Today I got a screen which said "Warning- your IP is ... your
computer has been accessed by another computer." Anything I tried
could not get rid of this screen which was plastered across the
entire monitor. Fortunately, I was able to do a system restore which
fixed it. Is there anything else I should do? Thanks

Maybe you had got a virus on your computer. When this type of thing happens,
make sure that you do a Full system scan with your AntiVirus software. Apart
from viruses, spyware, botnets, worms, or other types of malware are also
common. For spyware removal, download Windows Defender from the Microsoft
Website and for antivirus I would recommend avast! AntiVirus. You can
download it from download.com or the official site: http://www.avast.com

Thanks

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Others here have given you good advice, and I think it's prudent to
follow it. But may I ask: Were you online at the time this happened?
Because it sounds a *lot* to me like a come-on from whatever website you
were connected to at the time. Maybe not - maybe it was a real threat,
and it sounds like you handled it sensibly. But it sure sounds like a
variation on those pop-up boxes that scream "Warning! Your computer is
not fully protected!" which are *always* a come-on. Just a possibility
to consider. And by the way, you do have your firewall on, don't you?

Tony

Thanks Frank
Tony: I was online and checking newsgroups when it happened- I do
have the firewall on- Thanks for your help
