A question regarding the wall paper...

Hello all!
I have a question about the wall paper in windows XP. I used to have a
customized picture as my wall paper. Then I deleted the
picture. However when I right click my desktop, then choose property ---
desktop, in the background photo list, I could still see that photo.
I clicked it, in the display, nothing showed up. But every time I
shutdown the computer and turn it up, the photo I deleted will flash
for 2 seconds before the later wall paper I chose to use. I guess
there might be some registry setting which will help me "totally
delete" that photo...but I don't know which key to modify, anyone
could give some help?

Thanks!

Ben

You are not, by any chance, allowing the system to display web content
on the desktop are you? IIRC that will override the "regular" desktop image.

Oh, and if you truly want to "totally delete" the photo then you can
simply delete the file or re-name it so that the system cannot locate
it. Neither of these options has anything to do with the appearance
settings and would be accomplished in explorer.

How did you delete the picture? The file has to be somewhere on the system
for it to be displayed.

The reason it appears briefly is that it's set as the wallpaper in the
..Default key in the registry. This sets the defaults for various properties
before a user logs in. This includes wallpaper and screen saver.

Run regedit and look under HKey_Users\.Default. You should find a Wallpaper
value with that file (and path to it) listed as the data.
