A question about OLE charts

So, for linked charts (paste as link), what are the limitations. More
specifically, some charts larger get cropped - only certain number of cells
are displayed; cropping may occur horizontally or vertically - but always
along the "largest" direction, and it's always along the cell boundary, it
appears.

What is this behavior prompted to, what are the limitations? Curiously, I
had more cropping occur with a more powerful system, which blows away the
notion that it's memory dependant.

Can somebody comment?

Hi Ilya,

You didn't mention the version of Office you're using, the type of chart, if you're including the data table or just the graphic of
the chart, so basically,
no object inserted in a Word document can exceed the current dimensions of one Word printed page. Whether things crop or 'shrink to
fit' can depend on how it's created [which app/feature version used], inserted, linked and updated.

Office 2007 has a new charting engine/interface from the prior versions of Office.

Thanks, Bob, for the response. I was actually being quite precise, but I can
see what can seem as ambiguous.

Here goes.

The issue is independent of the Word (Office) version - it manifests itself
in 2000, 2003, and (to my surprise) 2007. The systems that I tried 2000 and
2003 on were running XP Pro with varying amounts of RAM (up to 2 Gigs - this
is the best performing system with minimal "cropping"). The system running
Office 2007 is Vista x64 with 4 Gigs of RAM. This performed worse (in terms
of cropping - ?!) than the 2003 system.

The problem is concerning linked Excel objects - charts, in this particular
instance. That means, they are pasted with Paste Special -> Excel Object
(check paste as link).

It's NOT cropping it to page -> it's cropping not the size of the object,
but its contents. For instance, say (for the sake of the conversation) the
object being pasted is B2:H32. But what appears in Word, within the object
frame (field) is only B2:H4. So there.

It's not very trivial. Which makes it all the more annoying.

Hope you know what's going on, reading these boards, like Princess Leia
said, you (and a select few others) may be my only hope.

Ilya
