A program tries to access email addresses

Hi! I am using Windows XP Pro and Office XP Pro. I have reinstalled
completely the system two days ago because a program was trying to access
email addresses in Outlook everytime I tried to reply a mail. I was told it
is the virus Netsky. I always keep my computer updated to the maximum
possible level and used many available instruments offered on different sites
to remove Netsky. No Netsky was ever found.
After installing available upgrades for Windows and Office I am back to
square one. I am again getting the same warning which I used to get when
synchronizing Palm.
Question: Is this behaviour related to some upgrade? What should be done to
get rid of this annoyance?
Or is it time to move to Opera mail?
Thanks for any comments.

Are you clicking on a mailto: link? If so, Outlook is getting called as
the MAPI handler.

Are you in OE and replying to a sender (instead of the newsgroup)?
Well, then the MAPI handler (Outlook) has to be called to open the new
mail compose window.

Are you reading the message AND replying to it and all from within
Outlook?

Under Internet Options -> Programs, what program is listed as the e-mail
client?

What add-ins have you already installed into Outlook? Have you tried
disabling them?

This message is part of security introduced in Outlook 2000 SP2 and later.
It has to be programmed around when developers write software.

You say that you get the message when synchronizing your Palm. It sounds to
me like you are using an older version of the Palm Synchronizing software.
The message comes up when the Palm software tries to resynch.

Update the Palm software and the problem will be solved while synchronizing
at least.
