A perplexing Spam problem

Hey all...got a real puzzler for you all. Who's gonna be the one to solve my
quandry?

I'm using Yahoo's Business Mail (associated with my domain), and accessing
it via POP3 with Outlook 2003. When I check the mail using the web client, I
get very little spam. However, when I check with Outlook, something really
strange happens: On send/receive, I get precisely 72 pieces of Spam.

They seem to be of the SMTP error type associated with the Sober virus. If I
close Outlook and come back a day later, refresh my email, boom...another 72
pieces of Spam. It only happens when I do send/receive. The spam gets
properly sorted to the junk mail folder, but I am constantly deleting tens of
thousands of items from it after a day of using Outlook.

To be clear, I don't think it has anything to do with my Yahoo Mail account.
Again, when I check the web mail interface (even the junk mail folders), I'm
not seeing these messages. That leads me to believe that somehow Outlook is
sending spam (that gets bounced and returned to me) each time I send.

I've updated to all of the latest service packs, run several virus and
adware programs and found nothing.

Any advice?

Puzzling, indeed! What are these messages exactly - delivery failure
notifications? Do they contain the original message, possible with the
headers? If so, you should be able to find some clues.

Or in the headers of the messages your receive - is there anything
common that could lead you to the solution?
