A MSAS question.

Do i remember reading that you can safely delete all Microsoft Antispyware
files without hurting Defender ? I found some files labeled msas.msi - file
type windows installer package, just checking to see if they can be removed.
Thanks

Hello Ron H,

As an insurance, make a Restore point.

REMOVING BETA 1
Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administrator.

This needs to be run in safe mode.

In Windows Programs files, delete all the sub-directorys and the folder MSAS.

Delete in Windows\system 32 :
GcColetion.dll
Hashlib.dll
GcUnCompress.dll
GcTypLibA.tbl
GcAntiSpywareLib.dll
GcUserData.gcg

Also, delete in Windows\Downloaded Installations, any reference about MSAS.

You can use Ccleaner (Twice).
Run the above remover in safe mode Ccleaner on all 3 settings (windows, apps
& issues), and clear anything found, reboot and see if it still exists.

Again, repit the same as above

Done.

Reboot

Engel, Found everything per your instructions. Removed four files from
Downloaded Installations and the first four files from system/32 that you
mentioned. GC Antispywarelib.DLL and GC userdata.gcg were nowhere to be
found. And after cleaning the registry with Safety Live everything appears to
be fine. And again Thank You Ron
