A minor problem but its annoying me now

Hi

just recently after a windows update I noticed that my keyboard had been
changed to a US layout, all my families e mails had disappeared, my wife and
I cant change our homepages in IE6 but my son can and my computer wont or
cant do a system restore. Now this all points to a virus to me, but Norton
keeps coming up clean. I have removed all spyware etc from the pc but still
to no avail. All three of us are administrators on the pc but I cant sort it
out. Can anyone give me any ideas where to start. I'm not very computer
literate so if you could keep it simple I would appreciate it

Try going to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Check Show Updates and
Remove the update you think caused the
problem.
 
Thanks for the replies but neither one worked, anyone have another thought
that may be able to help me out?
