... at first I laughed ... but look again at the young family with the child ... was he just not paying any attention? Surely there are plenty of warnings?

We have a few of these Bollards in entrances to private/business car parks here in Southport, but not on the main road.

What do you think? ... are drivers that blind? ... another stupid idea from the Council?

I think its a bit of both - the council should give a bit of space after a bus goes through to allow for drivers blind stupidity, then have some kind of flashing warning lights that the bollards are about to be raised - although there are signs prior to the bollards, if the driver is a stranger to the area and is right up the buses chuff, then he/she ain't gonna see them in time.

There are some like this in High Wycombe on the main route into the town center - it happens there as well on frequent occasions

Well! In the most part regarding the people carrier. The thing that struck me as alarming is "SEAT BELTS" not being worn by the rear seat passengers

There are enough warnings to show what is likely to happen if your an IDIOT.... BANG WALLOP STOP "DEAD"

We passed those bollards about 10 mins ago (its inside Manchester City Centre), there are LOADS of warnings about them and they are either silly drivers or trying their luck. The main shopping streets are pedestrianised and only allow busses down them - very sensible idea, I've got no idea how a car thought he could get past!

What a great way to rip the sump out of your engine!
Also they do have these type of bollards now at some car rental sites to stop thefts.

We passed these this morning and guess what happened...!

The cars windshield was smashed and had to be towed by an RAC van. It was Another BMW!
