The problem I have with Copernic is that it insists Outlook is on the
computer and active, or it doesn't even start. I have corresponded with
their tech people many times on this, but there is till no fix.

Hmmm? I must admit that I haven't got the latest version installed. I had
it running at the time of 1.5beta and further, and it ran without problems
on my MS Office-free computer.

Are you sure? The system requirements also don't specify Outlook as
needed...

I'm looking for an altrenativer of GDS because sometimes I need a
sofisticated search tool but without any connection on Internet.

My works and my notebook will thank you !

It's not required, but if it is on your system, Copernic demands it be
running or it won't even install. Believe me, I have been over this
dozens of times with their tech people and they have promised a fix
"soon". That started a year ago. I use Outlook for the office because
they make me, so I have to have it on my system. The only way to
install Copernic is to run Outlook first, and be connected to the
office. Then, any time I want to run it afterwards, I have to run
Outlook, even if I am not connected to the office. Then, I can't search
Outlook.
