Hi all,
I am trying to help a friend out with a computer problem. He has got a
Windows XP professional machine that he now can not get a web page up
on internet explorer. I connect fine to two different ISP(s). This is
a dialup machine.
I can ping the default gateway and another machine in the isp's subnet
but when I try to do a ping to yahoo or a tracert to yahoo it fails.
The internet explore window says it can not find the file in the
document window. Any ideas?
I have played with the internet explore options (settings for dialup
adapter) with no success. I have made sure that the ip setting is
obtain ip address automatically but I am unsure about gateway settings
and DNS settings? Any Suggestions?
Is there a way to change the network settings back to the original
state? I think the problem began after my friends son played with the
local area connections to set up a small temporary workgroup.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
