Hi I just popped in a floppy disk into my hard drive and it said A:/ is not
accessible. Why is this and how can I use my A:/ drive again?

If you popped the floppy disk into your hard drive, the hard drive is
probably permanently damaged (just kidding). ;-)

Please clarify as to your problem:

Did you install a new floppy drive and you're having problems with that? or
Did you put a floppy disk in the floppy drive and you're having problems
reading the floppy disk?

I know you didn't put it in your hard drive

1. Try another floppy if the same thing happens then usually this
indicates the floppy drive is on the the blink. New ones are very cheap
a few dollars or pounds.

The problem is that I cannot save anything to the A:/ Drive nor can I open
anything off of a disk. It says the drive is not accessible and to contact an
administrator.

Hi,

Before you buy a new one, first try tearing out all its cables and
plugging them back in. You might find there's just a bad connection
somewhere.

You should try re-seating your cables to make sure they didn't come lose
during your install. And make sure wire 1 is on pin 1.

Insert floppy.
Open My Computer
Right click on floppy drive and select Format.
The choose what you desire.

Hi Don - Hope you can help me! I have Windows XP Pro SP2. I cannot get it
to recognize my floppy drive. I have tried several drives that all work in
other computers just fine. I have interchanged ribbon cables, and power
leads that are proven OK. I have uninstalled the stardard floppy drive
controller and had Windows find my hardware and reinstall the driver - still
My Computer does not show any A drive. Yet I know the computer finds it
because it reinstalls the standard floppy controller after "seeing" the
hardware is there. Any ideas how to get my computer to recognize my floppy
so I can access it. As I said I know it works just fine in other computers
running W98.
