Hello,

Any time I open Wordperfect (or an old version of MS Word) and open
folders to start looking for a file to work with, the A: drive
activates for a brief moment. If I then quit that document and go back
up the directory chain looking for another file to open, it will often
make that sound again. I rarely use the A: drive, but do not want to
remove it. Is there a way to stop the computer from looking for a disc
there when I am looking around for a file within a word processor?

Thanks,

Dave

16-bit programs, when looking for a file, cause a scan all available
devices.

The easiest fix is to put a blank diskette in the drive.
