Maybe many of you may know about this small wonder - when you click on
the tray icon for this proggy a miniature desktop is displayed and you
can click on any icon on this 'desktop' to start any program on the
desktop. This neat trick obviates the need to minimize several open
windows to reach the desktop, nor the need to scroll through the
menus.

This proggy works well with 98 but not with XP.

Does anyone know of a similar program that works with XP ?

desktop icons into that folder then drag that folder to your
quick-launch bar

Or more simply, right click on your taskbar and choose toolbars->
desktop.

Even better make that folder into a toolbar and a single click will
start any program.

I use Microsoft's own Show Desktop utility on the Quick Launch bar.
One click on it automatically minimizes all open apps and shows me the
desktop. Seems the simplest for me,

--------------

If you can't find Show Desktop on your system, create it yourself and
drop it on Quick Lauch. It's only a text file. Name it Show Desktop (a
space between w and D, and no extension). The contents are:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Try keyboard shortcut: "Windows Logo" + "D". Doesn't get much simpler or
faster!

Many thanks to all of you who responded with suggestions. They are
interesting, in particular Dan's script that brings out the desktop on
top.

Thanks again
