A couple of questions...

Hi, I'm certainly not as experienced as some of the people in here with
Vista...nor, general issues that occur with PC's. I recently purchased a new
PC which included WV Premium.

My first question (and I have looked through everything, but to no avail),
does my system by default run on SP1 or 2? If it is SP1, having WV, am I
able to download SP2 even it indicates that it is for XP?

My second question, along with WV that came with my system, it came with IE7
by default. Can I download IE6 (which I like a lot better), and if so, do I
simply delete IE7 off my system first, or download IE6 in addition to without
any trouble?

Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge on these 2 questions, I felt that
the only way to hopefully obtain any answers was to ask.

Thanks for your time,
Christian

1. Your system doesn't run on either SP1 or SP2. There are no service
packs for Windows Vista yet. As for being able to download Service Pack
2, you can download anything you want - even programs that don't run on
Windows. Being able to download Service Pack 2 means nothing. But you
can't install it since it has nothing to do with your operating system -
Windows Vista.

2. You can download IE6 (see above) but you can't install it. IE7 is
part of Windows. If you don't like it, don't use it. Try Firefox or
Opera instead.

Vista is what's referred to as "Gold" or RTM level. Service Packs are
compilations of Hotfixes that are released after the original product is
shipped. Usually, they occur in yearly cycles - Vista has had no Service
Packs released for it.

IE-7 is the only choice for Vista. If it's layout and configuration issues
with IE-7 there are things that can be changed to make it function more
like IE-6. Sometimes issues with IE-7 can be resolved by changing the
default "Phishing Filter" settings.

Hello,

1- Service packs are strictly associated with versions of Windows.
First XP was released, then XP SP1, then XP SP2, and then Vista.

Vista contains all the updates that were previously in the XP SP's.
Eventually, service packs will be created for Vista, which you will
want to download when they become available.

Service packs can't be mixed between versions of Windows.

2- Unfortunately, you are stuck with IE7. You cannot revert back to
IE6. Although, you are free to install any other third-party browser
that you want.
