a compound page number in auto TOC

I'm producing a document that is in annex format. I need the page numbers to
include the annex letter (A-1 thru A-34, B-1 thru B-23). I'm using a master
document and I want it to build its own table of contents. How do I make the
annex reference show up next to the number in the TOC?

you have to use heading styles, then when you insert your page number click
Include Chapter number, then the formatting you prefer
