Hello people.

Do you know some *very simple* freeware web server?

I mean, not as complex as Apache. No PHP, ASP, CGI is needed.

BRS WebWeaver

Overview :

BRS WebWeaver is a free personal web server that run on the Windows
platform. Even with it's small size ( ~375 KB ) and low memory
requirements ( ~4 MB ) it provides lots of functionality at speeds that
will impress you. Easy setup. BRS WebWeaver is simple to get up and
running. Once you download the install program, it only takes 5 mouse
clicks to be up and running. Want to add support for PHP, no problem
just a few clicks. Want to turn on support for SSI, no problem, just a
few clicks. No configuration files to edit (although you can). Fast.
Usually when you get a "simple" web server - it means low performance
and lack of features. Neither is the case with BRS WebWeaver. BRS
WebWeaver has been tested to sustain over 1000 connections per second
using only 4 MB of memory. It's free! BRS WebWeaver is completely free
for both personal and commercial use, no catches, no "spy-ware", no
hidden costs anywhere.

When I was using one, Xitami worked well for me. Pretty simple.

Did you hear the one about the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac?
He would stay up late every night and wonder if there was a dog.

I highly recommend Abyss Web Server (http://www.aprelium.com/) See the
testimonials at http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/opinions.html

I've been running Abyss Web Server since March 2003 (not 2004!), 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. It has NEVER crashed. It can, if desired, support
PHP, ASP, Perl, and more, with very easy installation. (I have PHP running
on mine.)

I'm running Abyss along with PHP, PERL, ASP, MySQL and not having any
problems with it. I'm running about a half a dozen websites built on the
e107 framework.

I ended up installing Abyss and it is doing a good job.
It was mainly to host my page (the URL is on my signature, but since I am on
dial-up it may not work if I am offline).

Well, no, it'll only serve pages while you're online. If that's a concern
for you there's always the option of serving your pages as a response set up
in an autoresponse email.
