I just put an xp machine on line. I have a very long favorites list I saved
from my 98se machine in c:\Windows\favorites. How do I transfer this to the
xp machine.
Xp has no file named Favorites.

actually it will be a path like this
C:\Documents and Settings\mike\Favorites\

not certain if drag and drop will work, but try just one and see

Yes it does have a Favorites "folder".

C:\Documents and Settings\"Username"\Favorites

Verify Drive designation. mine is "C".
"Username" is your Username

Hi
To copy the favourites from 98 to XP pro, you need to search the favourites
folder in windows 98 on to CD / Floppy and paste the favourites folder in
Windows XP under C:\documents and settings, under documents and settings
there will be folder by the username you are using.Open this folder and paste
favourites from cd/floppy.

All the best

That is the exact same path I gave...how are they different...

path to favorites folder in XP:

c:\documents and settings\username\favorites\

Should I have stated to replace username with the name of the user? Sorry I
assumed that would be obviuos..

This is IE dependent for saving very long webpage names. Copy and paste
won't work for that, otherwise it will.
Use import/export under IE's file menu for saving and restoring favorites on
a regular basis.
