98 to 2000

can i just install win2000 over the current win98 that i
have running? how do i get my machine from win98 to
win2000?

It is preferable to do a "clean" install, meaning fdisk and format the
harddrive first.
Why not go to XP? There are fewer patches to deal with after the initial
installation.
