8mb Partition and WinXP instal problem

When I try and install Win XP on a 40mb drive, it detects 8mb and 38mb
partitions. It will not install on the 38mb for some reason and finds
8mb too small to install on. How do I get rid of the 8mb partition
please? Dos Fdisk gets rid of it but will not let me remove 38mb as it
is called Extended partition. There are no logical drives in the
extended partition.

How can I install windows please?

Windows XP needs 2GB, wich is 1024xMB. It is never going to fit on that
drive, whatever you try.

If you mean 40GB, then it is really simple: Insert the XP CD, when you
get to the partition selection screen, press D on both partitions and
you will be asked if you want to delete the partition.

Whenn you run Windows XP setup, you're given the options to modify the
partitions there. Delete them all and create one. You cannot do anything
about the 8MB partition - it HAS to be there and is created by XP install.

You might want to reread your Post. I DOUBT you really have a 40 MB drive.
You may have a 40 GB drive. And if so, then the 8 MB left over Partition is
used for system files and cannot be deleted. As for the "38 MB" partition,
do you mean 38MB or 38 GB???
