841105 - autocorrection problem

hi all
i've a problem using MS Word 2003's autocorrection capability. it works
well, but i don't know how can i define precedence for phrases i enter. for
example, there are two phrases, "table" and "base table" in the correction
list i customized. since i write documents in my own language and use lots of
English words inside of the document, it's a good idea not to have to use
Left Alt+Shift for changing language repeatedly during writing the document.
in such a case autocorrection method may be ideal for replacing
non-recognized words which are entered in my own language and still have no
meaning with the correct form.
let me give an example. consider two phrases which are nonsense in Farsi (my
own language) but use the same key sequence as the words above, "Ùشذمث" and
"ذشسث Ùشذمث". when i'm writing the document in Farsi, i write these words
instead of "table" and "base table". the autocorrect may replace these with
the correct ones properly. but there is a small problem.
the problem is that since "ذشسث" is not defined to be replaced with "base"
and "Ùشذمث" is defined to be replaced with "table" the result phrase makes
"table ذشسث". if i can set precedence for the phrases i enter in the
autocorrect list, so that the "ذشسث Ùشذمث" be seen and checked before the
"Ùشذمث" or if i can set it to check the longer phrases before the shorter
ones in general, my problem may be solved.
how can i fix my problem?

I don't think you can get autocorrect to do what you are hoping for. It's
pretty mechanical--it doesn't bother with context. Abbreviations can't have
spaces.

You can, however, set up an abbreviation that expands to more than one word.
E.g., keep your "table" changing to "table", but when you want "base table"
maybe you could type the equivalent of "btable" or "basetable" and set that
to autocorrect to "base table".

hi daiya
it's a good suggestion. but it's not an abbreviation. it's language
conversion. same as when ur typing when cap lock is on and need to toggle
between cases. this time the toggle is between languages. i need to type how
i regularly type. i need Word to detect my mistakes in not toggling into my
own language. this is what i need. it's not the case of abbreviation.
refering to the Word's Help, in the title "Automatically correct text as you
type in another language", i found something indicating Word has such
capability. am i misunderstood?

Word's AutoCorrect entries are language-sensitive. English AutoCorrect
entries are saved in one .acl file and Farsi entries in another. The file
that is in use is determined by the language at the insertion point. That
being the case, it is not practical to try to use English abbreviations to
produce Farsi words if that's what you're trying to do. You must instead
change the language at the insertion point before typing.

thanx for the response
but my problem is exactly the same. "how can i eliminate necessity of
changing the language at the insertion point before typing?" Daiya gave me a
good workaround. i use Farsi abbreviations (if u call it so) not including
spaces to help autocorrect find only one match and doesn't mess up with them.
but Word is unable to 'completely' detect the language i write a phrase in.
note the following, please:
1. i don't call them abbreviations. it has no sense a phrase to be an
abbreviation of another phrase in another language. they're conversions from
one language into another. they're corrections.
2. as a programmer, if i were working as a developer of the Word program, i
would design such a capability that the Word decides which language to use
for a special key sequence automatically. it's very simple. it's enough to
look in each language's dictionary. it's rarely possible to find two or more
matches. it usually fits in only one language. for example "sghl" and "اثممخ"
are both nonsense, while "سلام" and "hello" are correct words. in addition to
the dictionaries, Word would probably need to pay attention to each
language's keyboard layout. it's not a complex procedure at all.
3. why i persist not to change the input language at the insertion point?
consider a document ur typing in two languages. u've to change the language
while writing the document repeatedly. this happens most of times. sometimes
menu is selected for the "Alt". Left Alt+Shift is a troublesome key
combination, especially when it must be used so many times.
