Here's a tip to read the text on a web page that's temporarily
unavailable (like this one). Save for future reference.

Go to www.google.com and type the following in the search box:

allinurl:ijini batcave net

Now click the link "Cached" to read Google's copy of the page. You
still can't download programs stored on that site or see any graphics
until the original page is available. (Note: the cached copy of a
page is from Google's last visit, which might have been days or weeks
ago.)

As of this very moment, the download (ijini.zip) is available :)

Download stops after 4695 bytes.

Does OB1 have any size limit on a download? (18 MB file)

Seems to have a size limit but I don't know what it is exactly.
With downloads as small as 4 meg I see indications of downloading but
no end result. It downloads small files to its own folder. Is that
what you find?

I haven't tried yet, I want to get Netscape 4.79 (18 MB) on my old
486/33 laptop by downloading, and I can put OB1 on it on a floppy. But I
need to find out if OB1 has a size limit.

I suggest that you download Opera 2.12e from here:

http://www.ecsis.net/pub/netuser/win3x.htm

It runs on Win 3.1 as well as later versions of Windows (I just tried
it on Win ME). It's only 790K so it will fit on a floppy. As a d/l
check, I tried the 12 meg Moz 1.7 and it handled it ok, so I suspect
your 18 meg d/l will be ok as well.

Thanks, Art. I've heard about Opera for years, it's very different from
Netscape, but I will give it a try. The laptop already has IE 3.0
unpatched on it, but Opera must surely be safer to use, even
temporarily.

IIRC that function was available only from 4.0 or so.

I have no idea. I did d/l a 23 meg file using it as a check later on
and it worked ok (I have DSL service). For a one-shot deal, he could
just keep on trying until he gets the 18 meg d/l he wants.

opera362e16.exe setup file has a size of 1,434,421 bytes, so it fits on a floppy.

opera212estup.exe has a size of 789 KB, but I assume ver. 3.62 would be better
to use if possible.
