802.1x on LAN networks (not WLAN)

Searching Technet, it seems 802.1x can only be used with
wireless networks.
Our LAN switches support 802.1x (i.e. authentification
with a certificate). Can our Windows XP
workstations authenticate with these switches, provided
that all the infrastructure pieces are in place
(certificate services, IAS, etc...)?
Again, I emphasize that I am concerned with a "wired"
LAN, not WLAN.

Thank you

Can you tell me what you found that implies wireless only? The 802.1X stack
in Windows XP is fully supported on wired networks. A number of customers
have deployed it: it works very well.
