802.11b Wireless Network Access Point F5D6130

Im running under WIN XP, I just bought a 802.11b Wireless Network
Access Point F5D6130 because I needed to equip one of my PCs in
order to run internet.

I thought I could connect the belkin wireless network access point to
the PC and this way I would be able to recieve data from my DNS router
(Home Portal 1700HG)

The wireless network access point manual doesn't mention nothing like
that, in all examples the device is being conected directly to the
router and not to the PC, in the manual they have in mind that my pc
is wireless enabled and that's what I wanted to do when I first buy
this product....the guy at radio shack was the one who recommended me
this product and I asked him 3 times if this was going to work, the
box didnt say it was for enabling PCs for wireless access but he said
it would...

so...should I return this product to radio shack or it is possible to
work like I'd like to? if I have to return this product which one
should I buy then?
I'd like something external, not PCI....USB preferable...

You most definitely have the wrong thing. Return it for a refund and then
go somewhere else to buy a USB network adapter like one of the following:

(NOTE - The above are neither product recommendations nor advice to buy,
simply examples of the type of device you need to buy.)

A wireless access point will make a network (or a new wireless network)
available to wireless devices. This is generally a router or a bridge.
Then you need a Wireless Adapter card that connects your PC to the wireless
network.

You'll need to either take this back or get a wireless NIC too.
