551 not our customer when forwarding mail outlook

I get returned mail with the error "551 not our customer" when trying to
forward mail. I can send new mail to the same contacts with no problem.

I am generally having the same problem. I can send new emails, reply to fully opened emails and forward emails. When I reply from a not opened email, I get error 551 'user not a customer'. Help?

I am having the same prob and when I tried to call for help they want $49
bucks.... half of my contacts no longer appear and I cannot even send them a
NEW mail ...undeliverable and that not our customer/551 comes up. ARRRGH! Has
Outlook crashed?

Same Problem started yesterday, now I can't send any emails and the addresses do not automatically pop up, even after restart and outlook repair/update. Is there an iphone app to blame? I used a linked-in iphone app update yesterday and believe it may have duplicated some addresses.

Same problem here. Started yesterday, 4/19/10. Newly created e-mail go out but not fwd or reply. Is it an Outlook or ISP issue. Happens with both Outlook XP om an XP machime and Outlook 07 on a Vista machine. I use BellSouth, ie.e AT&T DSL.

I'm having a simular issue.
outlook 2002 will not allow me to send mail get error message 551 not our
customer
I am able to receive all e-mails from other hosts but I am not able to reply
or send new mail if they do not have the same e-mail provider.

Can I get help!!

I am using bellsouth.net, and having exactly the same problem - can't reply
to messages, and losing email addresses. It started this morning - Feb. 20.

Does anyone have a hint how to fix it?

I suspect it's another wave of trying to "persuade" us to use the yahoo mail server config, which never seemed to work right when I set it up in Outlook using their spec. I have been staying on the mail.bellsouth.net server. Since last night I've had the 551 error when sending any mail, reply forward or new, to a non-bellsouth.net address

ditto, My wife's laptop is on VITSA running Outlook 2007 with ISP = Bellsouth. No replies from Bellsouth.

I have also had the same issue on Bellsouth. It worked Friday night (2/19/10) but not today. I checked settings and tried webmail (which works) but stumbled upon a page that said Bellsouth would not let me check or change any information on my account because their servers were down for maintenance. Anyone else tried that route? I really think it is Bellsouth/AT&T doing something to fix something that wasn't really broken.

Seems to be working now using (mail.bellsouth.net) email server, additional outbound servers and bellsouth/AT&T DSL service. NO more immediate bounce back.

Same thing here. Started this morning. Using Bellsouth.net as my
outgoing mail server. Use Outlook at home and auto download my emails
from Bellsouth.net and yahoo.com. But today, i can't forward or send
any email messages, only recieve. Getting the sam message you are.

Perhaps you might find something useful there. In any case, the problem
is not Outlook, a rarity I admit, but rather with the downstream ISP.

It's driving me nuts...551 not our customer. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it.

Just got this message on an ATT chat;

I apologize but we are undergoing a system maintenance. Would you please try
to check your client email program later today and see if it will work then.
This maintenance is intended to improve the service we offer you and we
regret any inconvenience. For the mean time, we suggest that you access your
email account online or we can temporarily change your outgoing mail server
and see if this resolve the issue.
