Hi all,

I spent some time searching for an enclosure supporting all of USB
2.0,
Firewire 1394a and 1394b connections. The ones I found are all 3.5"
drive only. The 5.25" ones I found only suport either USB 2.0/1394a
or 1394a/1394b. Are there any 5.25" enclosures that have
USB 2.0/1394a/1394b all in one box? Or does one have to make one by
purchasing an empty enclosure and a bridge board? Or should a cable
be sufficient to provide the 1394a <--> 1394b conversion?

Tia

Thanks for the link. I did visit that one (along with quite a few
others).
Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my previous post.
I know 1394b is backward compatible with 1394a, with a
9-6 / 9-4 cable/adapter. I would like an 5.25" enclosure that has
native connectors for all of USB 2.0, 1394a (6-pin), and 1394b
(9-pin).

Like these:
2.5" enclosure: http://www.firewiremax.com/2usb20andfi4.html
3.5" enclosure: http://www.cooldrives.com/fi80013allne.html
5.25" enclosure: ??? (I once found one which Google has only 2
hits...)

If they are not making 5.25" ones, is there a reason (market, etc.)
for it?

You didn't find http://www.firewire-1394.com/firewire-usb-combo.htm then.

Note all their FW 1394b adapters provide 30W, enough for any IDE hard drive.

So much for the trolls who say otherwise. Right, Arnie?
