"Pretty simple question I think but I was wondering why you find "presumed"
copies of documents in folders with the beginning name of ~$____? For
example, the document name is ElecStimforWounds.doc and the "copy" is named
~$ecsStimforWounds.doc. The document is not currently open. How should these
be managed or ignored?
Also why are the temp documents created? For example, WRL2201.tmp. Can
this be deleted?

Again, best to ask in a Word group. Having said that, Word must have
crashed, or the computer was shut down incorrectly while documents were
open. The ~ file is created when a document is opened, and is deleted
automatically when the document is closed correctly. Temp files are created
for a variety of reasons, and for a variety of reasons are not always
deleted when they should be. For more information about handling temporary
