32bit vs 64bit (Running Windows XP)

Will the current Windows XP run on a 64 bit machine or will we have to wait
until the OS has be recompiled for 64 bits?

Will a 32 bit application (Games or Office Product) run as good on a 64 bit
computer as it does on the 32 bit machines.

Let me know if there is a better newsgroup for these questions.
Thanks

Yes. It just won't take advantage of its being 64-bit.

Yes.

I believe the 64 bit version is only OEM so it gets bundled with other stuff
that you may not want/need.

Machines built around AMD's Athlon64 and Intel's EMT64 processors will
support the 32-bit versions of WinXP. Intel's Itanium and Itanium II
processors won't; these CPUs require the 64-bit version of WinXP Pro
that was originally released nearly 3 years ago.

WinXP Pro has always been available in a 64-bit edition for use on
machines built around Intel Itanium series processors. Also, as of this
past April (2005), WinXPx64 has been available for use on systems built
around AMD's Athlon64 and Intel's EMT64 processors.

Usually, and often times, better. However, not all 32-bit applications
can be used on a 64-bit OS; check for compatibility *before* making any
purchasing decisions.
