32 or 64 bit

dumb question, how do I know if I'm running the 32 or 64
bit version of xp home? I'd like to download the LovSan
patch, but not sure which one to download. When I go to
look, it tells me in the system description that I'm
running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack
1, but nothing to denote 32 or 64?

any help for a very ignorant user?

thanks

Could you guys stop saying they are soooo expensive.

HP workstation zx2000 features & overview

Alienware AuroraT Extreme

One with an Itanium and one with an AMD Althlon XP. One home system, and
one "More than a car cost machine" . Sure these is stilla large difference
in price, but none of the two cost enough to a car (execpt junkers, junkers
do count, you can buy a junker for the price of these computers)

Chris;
The Alienware is a bad comparrison. less than $2600.
You choose a pricy manufacturer to begin with.
Power it up with most of the extras and it is still about $1000
cheaper than a cheap 64 bit computer.

Windows XP64bit will add about $400.
Total about $3700 US on the HP 64 bit.
The point is 64bit are way more expensive.
More than 4 times what the typical home user will pay for the
computer.
Next time try to make a fair comparrison.

People that buy computers even getting close to this price will know
they have a 32 bit computer.
Go higher and they know they have a 64 bit computer.

Yes they are "soooo expensive"

An easier way to read newsgroup messages:

And this page http://www.hp.com/workstations/itanium/index.html gives a better explination. Check the notes on the bottom of the page. And don't forget your 64 bit software.

Just my 2¢ worth,

Can't find anything to support your 'argument' can you Christopher?

One thing your both missing is that the 64 bit version of XP will NOT run on
an AMD chip, so those computers are not even in the same class.

Jupiter, we just purchased several Dell P4 machines and they ran over $4500
each.
Much more expensive then the 64 bit models.
It all depends on what you want.
Chris is correct that the price is no longer a good gauge.

To a point maybe.
But did you buy a top of the line 32 bit computer or lower end?
Considering the price, it would appear to be a high end 32 bit.
What is the cost of a high end 64 bit computer?

The average 32 bit computer costs way less than the average 64 bit
computer.
Therefore 64 bit cost more than 32 bit computers.
