31/2 floppy

After formatting my PC and re-installing XP Pro when
clicking onto MY COMPUTER the 31/2 floppy isn't recorded?
Can anyone help? Thanks
 
The floppy should be detected by the BIOS, so check that
first.
Make sure plug and play is enabled.
Check to see what the device manager says about the problem.
