Recently upgraded my harddrive to 300 Gb Maxtor
and Windows XP Home is unable to make one large
partition on it... What is the limit and where?
Is it a WinXP limit or my motherboard/BIOS ?
I am using DELL PowerEdge SC420.

Also - this half-sized partition has already
Windows installed and activated - is there a way
to enlarge partition without loosing this install?
Or at least without the need to activate again ?

Thank you!

Since you are not changing the hardware in any significant way, you can save
the file named ../system32/wpa.dbl and restore it after setup, to avoid
reactivation (by phone).

Ah, the classic problem! You need to install at least XP Service Pack
1 to enable 48-bit LBA, personally I'd go straight to SP2
