Hi everyone, I've got 3 questons and I will appreciate your help;
1. when I bought my laptop I made partitons in my hard drive but now I want
to re-emerge them back together. How do I do that?
2. any now and than my internet explorer gets stuck and vista pops a massage
saying that the internet has stoped working and vista closes the internet.
Why does it happen and what can I do to stop it from freazing?
3. I erased my garbage bin on my desktop and I can't find it now. Where did
it go??
Thanks,
D

1. GParted or any disk management utility can do this.
2. This sounds like IE is crashes and has to be restarted. Without knowing
why it crashed cant really help.
3. If you emptied the Recycle Bin the files are gone from your system.
Only Recovery Software can get them back now and that is only if you have
not made any changes to your system since you have emptied your recycle bin.

1 Been answered

2 start IE7 with no add-ons; see if that makes a diff.
If it does, add them back one at a time until you find the prob one.
You can go intoTools>Internet Options> advanced> and reset things> but I
don't think that is your prob at the present.

3.Right-click on your empty desktop>Personalise>change Desktop Icons> sort
it from there with the Garage Bin settings!.

1) The best software I have found for vista for handling partitions is
called PARAGON PARITION MANAGER... That can do the trick

2) Try running the no-add ons version (I think its in accessories folder in
the start menu?)
if that works well then it means that an add on is creating your problem..
you can then go ahead and start disabling add-ons by going from Ie to tools>
internet options> programs> manage addons (button)

3) Right click on an empty space of your desktop,> PERSONALISE> then on the
left sidebar
you will see a link
that says something like desktop icons.. (cant remember now) from there you
can re-enable the recycle bin icon. You cannot imagine how many people have
this problem, its a design flaw since they put a delete in the right click
for the icon and people do that thinking it will empty the recycle bin.

Are you going to be another one that does NOT read posts!

The poster erased the BIN; she is NOT talking about the contents.
Be VERY careful what information you give out!!!

I think you had better hand back the MVP!

Are you sure you are an MVP shell user?

your answers 2 and 3 are usless.. see my replies to the OP

1. when I bought my laptop I made partitons in my hard drive but now I
want
to re-emerge them back together. How do I do that?

In the start menu type "Computer Management", and open the Management
Console. Then click on Storage->Disc Management (Local)... Then, you can
just right click on any partition, to see your available options, and do the
operation.
2. any now and than my internet explorer gets stuck and vista pops a
massage
saying that the internet has stoped working and vista closes the internet.
Why does it happen and what can I do to stop it from freezing?

Does this happen always on the same site, or always at random? You should
try disabling your active Add-ons and/or ActiveX controls. If the problem
persists, you can always try another browser (e.g. Opera, Firefox,...)
3. I erased my garbage bin on my desktop and I can't find it now. Where
did
it go??

You can get it back via Right click->Personalize->Change Desktop Icons
(Under Tasks, to the left), and just check the box next to Recycle Bin

Your welcome

Are you going to be another one that does NOT politely bring that to the
attention of the person whom replied !!!!!!!

Would have been very simple to have said,,,
Alex, I think you misread number 3 in the OP post. They said they removed
the Recycle Bin icon and not the contents.

We are all here to HELP each other, yes even the ones who make mistakes.

I have not seen many good MVPs (I dont mean you.. I mean the other guys) in
this newsgroup, I suspect that the good ones know how
crap vista is and are avoiding everything that has to do with it.. lol

Sheesh...give the guy a break...
an MVP is a human being after all.

The one thing I do notice though.
Is that so many folks giving advice have totally missed the fact the Vista
is the first MS operating system
to have built-in non-destrcutive repartitioning.
Not sure why 3rd party utilities seem to be recommended.

Have you tried using the built in vista non destructive partitioning??? LOL

its the stupidest thing I have ever seen.. half the times it doesnt work!
(well vista doesnt work so this is not a surprize)

Just google around and you will see what people really think about this
trash MS gives with vista. "Vista is unable to resize this partition" sounds
familiar? LOL

When I say something I say it from experience.. the best is Paragon
Partition Manager.
an MVP is a human being after all.
MVP's are no longer human, they are part of the collective of borg

Hey Mick. Shut up for a minute. So I misread the OP 3rd question. Wow I
think I got the first 2 right and misread the 3rd. Lay off. You aint
perfect either. Idiot. Who are you to criticize everyone else. I know for
fact you aint perfect. How? Your HUMAN.

about 3)... yet, when you click delete in the right click menu, it alerts
the user "are you sure you wanna remove the recycle bin from the desktop"
and even tells you how to restore it. That is a User problem, moron.

None of your replies were good... lol

read my answer to the OP and stop talking and start learning from the pros

No its not a user problem.

Why? Because too many users are having the problem! I have seen this posted
here at least 100 times.. You can imagine how many people are having the
problem

And when a problem is so frequent, it is due to the design of the interface

its like a car company saying.. we put the stearing wheel under the seat..
but we DID give the all the instructions of how to use it in the cars
manual! Dont sue us if people get killed! LOL

Got it Mr. Moron? You sound like Frank more and more.. perhaps you ARE that
pathetic loser!

They did not have it like that in all prior versions of
windows..

and for a good reason! LOL Because the older designers knew what they were
doing!

Seeing all these stupid mistakes with the Vista GUI, I am sure that the
people who made the decisions were fresh out of collage. No experience with
real life designing...

Stupid top posting moron.
If you can't tell the difference between "delete" and "empty recycle bin",
then you truly are an idiot.
Vista is too complicated for you to use.
Try an abacus.

It can't be done with Vista's native tools, but most reputable 3rd
party partition management utilities can do this. BootItNG should meet
your needs; there's a free, fully functional 30-day evaluation version
available for downloading from www.bootitng.com. You should be sure to
back up any important data before starting, as things can sometimes go
wrong.

2. any now and than my internet explorer gets stuck and vista pops a massage

I assume that you're speaking of Internet Explorer, and not the entire
internet? Impossible to say what's causing the problem without much
more information. What is the specific error? Does this happen only on
specific web sites? What kind of internet connection do you have,
dial-up, cable, dsl, wireless, etc.? What do your error logs report?

3. I erased my garbage bin on my desktop and I can't find it now. Where did
it go??

Do you mean that you're no longer displaying the "Recycle Bin?" If so,
right-click any blank spot on the Desktop, select Personalize > Change
Desktop Icons.

Sorry, but Vista's native Disk Management doesn't have the capability
to merge partitions. It's limited to creating, deleting, extending, or
shrinking actions only.

If it's so, then sorry for the wrong information... I currently have only 1
partition on each disc, and must have recalled it incorrectly... Thanks for
sorting that out!
