3 Queries re: System Restore/ SP 1 + 2/File Transfer from PC to ne

Good Evening Everyone

I hope you may help me.

How do I activate System Restore ? It doesn't load up when I select it from
Start Menu/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore ?

Is it safe to delete Service Pack 1 + 2 from Add/Remove programs if I am now
using Service Pack 3 ? I want to clear anything out I don't need.

And lastly (and I hope not too cheeky asking 3 questions at once)

What is the best way to save files from PC as I would like to transfer a lot
of music/photo's/info to new PC when I get one ?

I currently have Windows XP Home Edition 2002, Service Pack 3. I will more
than likely get new PC with Vista.

Check to see if the system restore file is here:
C:\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
If it is there, double click it to see if the shortcut might be bad.

Regarding the service packs, I don't know if it would be safe as I have
never removed them; however, with that said, they don't show up on my
add/remove list either. I would leave them alone unless someone can assure
you it is safe to remove them.

It appears you do not have the files backed up already so you need to do so.
Burn DVDs/CDs or get an extra hard drive on which to place the files. Then
when you get the new PC, you will have everything ready to transfer (but
keep the back ups).
