For some reason my icon buttons in the Taskbar Quick
Launch area changed and now have a white background
immediately around the icon image instead of a blue
background that matches the overall task bar blue color.
I haven't been able to change them back. I have even
used system restore but the problem persists.

Hello Colin,

One way to fix might be via TweakUI (for XP). If this is
not installed on your system, then download it from http://
www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Note: V2.10.0.0 needs Windows XP SP 1

In TweakUI, navigate to
| Repair | Repair Icons | [Repair Now]

---

Another way might be via David Candy's procedure -

| To refresh the icons in the system,
| | Control Panel | Display | /Appearance\ [Advanced],
| change the size of icons
| click [Apply]
| then change the size back.
