2K won't start up

D

DBG

System hangs about 2/3rds through the startup procedure
and either restarts or simply hangs. In the SAFE mode I
have benn getting a blue screen with the message:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

If this is the first................etc.

I have neither added nor removed any software or hardware.
Any expert advice would be helpful as the system is
presently not usable....Thanks...........DBG

I'm running into the same issue with several of our Win
2K Pro workstations.

The system reboots just before reaching the "Press
CTRL+ALT+DEL" screen which allows you to enter your
username and password.

I am unable to get the machine to start in Safe Mode.
The repair and recovery utilites on the installation CD
had no effect.

Any advice or info that anyone can share would be
appreciated.

After looking inside the "box" I checked the two hard
drives to insure that there were no loose connections and
rebooted. Now I get the blue screen error:

STOP c0000221 Unknown Hard Eerror
If this is the first........etc..

Help is needed or I will shoot this devil and return to
my trusty slide rule and pencil pad....DBG
