2gig truncation and scanpst failing

I have truncated at least 10 2 gig psts in the last 6 months and
theislast one does not ever pass the scanpst, before truncation or post
truncation. I usually go with the 25 mb default truncation and I even
tried more to see if that would help, but I cannot get this last pst to
pass the scanpst!

I've been working on the pst for almost a week and am about ready to
give up. Maybe I will be able to create a new one and import from the 2
gigger but I am doubting it.

2gig2big, need a license plate for that!

Outlook 2000, what a pain! Anyone have any ideas, something I'm
missing? Or should I tell the user they're screwed?

It appears that on occasion there's no good way to truncate a PST and still
allow it to be recoverable with SCANPST. Apparently you've run into that
situation.
 
I have heard rumors of such failings, but I got lucky! I don't know if
there's a magic number, I usually go with the default 25 mb, but I
thought that still looked like a pretty big pst. So I took it down to
about 2,03x,xxx MB and THE DANG THING repaired and opened and I was
able to purge the 2000 deleted emails (don't get me started!) and
compact it! Cool...

So, hopefully all is well. Wonder what the magic number is?

1.87 is the largest workable .pst file in 97-2002 format. They can start
failing at less than that. However, at 2 gigs, I would cut out a hundred mb
minimum to get it to work.

YIKES! 100 MEG!? I usually nibble off 25 meg and it usually works, then
I purge the deleted messages, often thousands of them, compact the
sucker. I HATE OUTLOOK 2000! We don't even have an Exchange server. I
dunno. Damn email distribution lists!
