2GB file limit on NTFS

i'm getting a 2GB file limit on NTFS. i thought the limit was something like
2TB??? What gives here?????
(running XP Pro, SP2)

Have another look. Your file system must be FAT32!

....agreed, but isn't the max file size 4GB in FAT32?

For NTFS you would effectively be limited only by the
amount of free space you have and for FAT32 the limit
is 4 GB.

Hence your file system is either FAT16, or you are
seeing an artificial lower limit imposed by bad
programming in the application you are using to
create/manipulate the file.
