256 more megs of ram, Would I notice it?

I already have 512 megs of ram on my Asus A7N8X system.
Would I notice a performance improvement buy adding another 256 megs
of ram stick? Or should I save that money?

IMHO you may only notice it if you use memory intensive programs, like
video editors and the like.

If you're not going to use any software like that, now or in the near
future, then you should save your money.

unless you are doing video editing or working with large images
with many layers in photoshop
you will see little or no difference...

if you are doing video editing etc...then you might as well go with a full
gig or two

If you have 2x256 meg configuration, I know that it used to be that
motherboards became unstable when adding memory to the 3rd slot. If you
have a single stick of 512, I know it used to be that mixing RAM was bad
and could cause problems.

Now, I don't know if any of that's changed. Some say that it has.
