250GB hard drive acting like 32GB

I recently purchased a USB enclosure for my 250 GB hitachi Deskstar
hard drive. This hard drive was previously used by someone. When I
connect this hard drive to my laptop using a usb cable, the device is
recognized. Then I go to disk management to format the hard drive and
here is where I get lost. The hard drive only displays 32 GB free
space, and it suppose to be 250. There is only one NTFS partition on it
and this is a maximum space on the hard drive. Please tell me how to
get the whole volume of the disk.

Could be two things, does it have a link to restrict the drive to 32Gig and
/or what is the max capacity of the enclosure.

Maybe the previous owner has a hidden partition still on there? Go to the
hard drive manufacturer's site. They usually have a tool for erasing a disk
(write zeros to it) and then you could format it again.

I called Hitachi and I have already solved the problem. The problem was
with jumper settings set to 32 GB clip. I changed the jumper settings
to master 0 and the drive is now reading 250 GB. Thanks for all your
help
