250GB Hard disk drive showing as 137GB

I have just put my new HDD in my machine to use as a master. I have installed
windows xp pro but it only shows as 137GB instead of 250GB.

When I right click on my computer and click manage then click disk
management there is 104GB un-allocated. If I right click that and click new
partition a window appears.

What I need to know is. Do I need to have a primary or extended partition to
get the rest of my HDD back? I dont want another drive like D: or somethin. I
just want the rest of my C: drive back.

Cheers

PS If I'd realised you were cross posting I wouldnt have
bothered

He *didn't* cross-post. He may have multi-posted, but don't mix
up the two.

Multiposting is sending the same message separately to more than
one newsgroup. Doing so just fragments the thread, so someone who
answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to see answers from others
in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the newsgroups
the message is multi-posted to, they see the message multiple
times instead of once.

Crossposting is sending a single message addressed to multiple
newsgroups at once. Assuming that you don't send the message to
many newsgroups, or to unrelated ones, crossposting has none of
the disadvantages of multiposting, and is good, not bad.
Unfortunately, crossposting gets a bad rep because it's a coomon
tool of spammers. That kind of crossposting is bad, but it's very
easy to distinguish it from the good kind.
