I have XP Pro and treid ti install a 200GB Western Digital HD.

I have read a little where it says I need SP1 which I will put on
tomorrow, but as I need this thing right now.

Can I still save to it as a 128 without any probs?

What happens when I SP1 on and it shows as a 200GB. Will it be in ther
forma of another partition?

Thanks

There is a 137 GB limit in retail versions of Windows XP because they do not
support 48-bit logical block addressing. In order for your drive to be
recognized properly during setup you will need to have an installation CD
with SP1 integrated into it. You can create one if you have a CD burner
available; this page explains how to do that:

If you can't make your own slipstreamed disk, I suppose you could install
SP1 and then use the disk manager to create another partition with the rest
of the space (or perhaps use a utility like Partition Magic to extend it).
I'm not sure though if this would cause problems or not.

There have been posts suggesting possible data corruption if you enable
large lba after having created a 127gb partition, then create a second
partition in resulting free space.
