2007 Package for CD VS 2003 Pack and Go

In PP 2003 when you used the pack and go for CD's the burned CD would
outo-run, opening in FULL SCREEN, as soon as you popped it into the CD drive.
I can't seem to make the 2007 Package for CD act the same way. Instead,
when you pop the recorded CD into the drive it opens in the explorer window
and you have to make a selection. This does not work for my purposes. I am
using it as a handout/mailer and need it to run immediately. Also, only a
couple of the files actually burned to the CD. It was a new CD-R. I tried
it on another cd from my new vist laptop and it copied ok but did not outrun.
ANy help would be appreciated. See second post for another PP 2007 problem.

It works the same way as 2003. Use the Publish option and select the copy to
folder option, then burn all the created files to your CD

Thank you, I will try that. I have been using the Publish option and
selecting the Copy to CD option, which I thought should accomplish the same
thing with fewer steps. Are you saying that the Copy to CD does not work
the same as copying to a folder?

To be honest, I have never used the copy to CD option direct. I've always
used the copy to folder and then burnt the files to the CD. Only because
I've heard stories using just the copy to CD option where links break, and
all files not copied to the CD

Yeah, what Michael said. It *should* work the same way -- it does in theory,
anyway. But in practice, the CDs are often just not right. So I do like
Michael does: I choose copy to folder, then I burn all the files in the
folder to the CD using my CD burning software.

for reference. I have tried every which way to write a CD in PP 2007 that
opens immediately in full screen mode when you insert the CD. I tried the
method you mentioned and the results were the same. When I ran the CD it
opened in a file. I had to click on the presentation and then it opened in
PowerPoint instead of the full screen/viewer mode. I tried it a couple of
times, then tried writing to the CD again, without success. In total
frustration, I installed my old PP 2003 disc and used it exactly as I had
always done. I used the package for CD and wrote directly to the CD from
PowerPoint. I put it in the player and, presto!!! It opened in full screen
mode without a hitch and ran perfectly! I am convinced that there is a
problem in PP 2007. Who can I write to at Microsoft about this issue? Thank
you.

Are you burning the folder to the CD? You need to burn the *contents* of the
folder, not the folder itself. Just the contents, so they're "loose" on the
CD.

Did you opt to include the Viewer when you package for CD in 2007?

Hmmmm . . . very interesting. I do believe you have hit the nail on the
head! I draged the entire folder onto my CD burner, not just the contents.
I had never tried that method before so I was not familiar with it. But yes,
I did include the viewer so that it would run on any PC. Your solution has
also helped me to know how to burn to a DVD in my new laptop, since PP
doesn't provide for DVD burning. Thanks for helping with this. Did you
notice my post about "Linked Music IN PP Stops when Linked PDF files open in
PowerPoint?" It was two posts above this one. I havn't received any replies
on that one so maybe there's no way to make it work.

Like Echo says, just drag the files and not the folder. Should have
mentioned that in the beginning.
