2007 Outlook

1) I had Office Small Business 200.
2) Bought Outlook 2003.
(all good so far)
3) Downloaded 2007 Office.
4) Outlook started crashing and talking about adobe.
5) Removed adobe pro, downloaded reader 7.
6) removed office 2007 completely.
7) reinstalled outlook 2003.
Problem: Get MAPI32.dell wrong version, corrupt file.
I am in trouble. Now I need my old format to make ends meet. Outlook 2003 or
make this beta 2007 work.
Help.........

The error message indicates that it didn't remove something completely
and it still has a 2007 DLL around. Reboot your computer, remove Outlook
2003 completely. Reboot again and then reinstall Outlook 2003. If it
still doesn't work, then you might be able to roll your computer back to
prior your installation of Office 2007 via System Restore.

I did that too. I also used system restore and it restored everything, even
the old outlook but would not let it start, telling me mapi32.dll is missing
or corrupt.
I went to find the mapi32.dll and renamed it and problem still occurs. I was
told system restore does not restore mapi files, it leaves them the way they
are, so this might explain why it did not work.

Sledgehammer cure? Remove all Office versions from your computer. Even
delete Program Files\Microsoft Office once you are done. Then reinstall
Outlook 2000 (without Outlook) and then Outlook 2003 and see what
happens?

I am trying to restore to a checkpoint from a week ago.
I also did what you said, and it did not work.
Will keep trying.
thank you.

I went through the same problem. I re-named mapi32.dll in windows\sytem32
to mapi32.bak while Outlook was running. Windows sensed the change and
notified me that it was going to update my Office configuration which it
did. Unloaded Outlook and then re-load it. Outlook created a new
mapi32.dll in Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033. Then Outlook
was able to run. Then I had to rename the mapi32.bak back to mapi32.dll so
that other programs that referred to it would work.

Since then I have removed Office 2007 B2. My PDA software would no longer
connect to Outlook 2007. I will wait until release time.
